Fort Worth-based power conversion products provider Schumacher Electric has launched a portable EV charger that can be used with a standard household outlet.
Called the Schumacher Electric SEV1670 12 Amp Level 1 Portable EV Charger, the unit delivers up to 12 amps of charging power using a standard household outlet, making it a convenient solution for everyday use, the company said.
“At Schumacher, our mission is to make EV ownership simpler, smarter, and more accessible for everyone,” CEO Mickey Leech said in a statement. “Our new SEV1670 was designed with real drivers in mind—offering a user-friendly experience, reliable performance and robust safety features, all in a compact and convenient form. It’s more than just a charger; it’s a peace of mind wherever the road takes you.”

Equipped with a universal J1772 connector, it’s compatible with the majority of electric vehicles on the road today, ensuring reliable and hassle-free charging for most EV models sold in the U.S.
The company said the charger will be available online and in select retailers beginning this month.
The “user-friendly” EV charger features a 20-foot cord to easily reach tight or hard-to-access spots, along with a durable rubber cover that protects against water and dirt, Schumacher said.
It includes built-in LED indicators that provide real-time updates, allowing the owner to monitor the charging status at a glance.
The charger is equipped with comprehensive safety features, including protection against leakage, under-voltage, overvoltage, overcurrent, overheating, ground faults, and relay faults.
“Our new SEV1670 portable charger represents a significant leap forward in sustainable transportation,” Leech said. “It offers enhanced convenience, faster charging times, and lower operating costs, delivering exceptional value to our customers and paving the way for a greener future.”
